چکیده

The theory of collocational networks adopts a textual definition of the phenomenon ofcollocation in an electronic corpus. The networks move out from a central node exploring thesignificant word associations of both base and collocate. This is done by measuring statisticalsignificance using mutual information. Working within a carefully-constructed corpus based on adiscourse community, the networks gradually reveal the significant lexis of the field andcollocational combinations for more complex structures. These networks are currently beingused for the extraction of headwords in a specialised pedagogical dictionary.Mediating between lexis and texts: collocational networks in specialised corpora ASp, 31-33 | 201012

A molecular switch for targeting between endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and mitochondria: conversion of a mitochondria-targeting element into an ER-targeting signal in DAKAP1.

dAKAP1 (AKAP121, S-AKAP84), a dual specificity PKA scaffold protein, exists in several forms designated as a, b, c, and d. Whether dAKAP1 targets to endoplasmic reticulum (ER) or mitochondria depends on the presence of the N-terminal 33 amino acids (N1), and these N-terminal variants are generated by either alternative splicing and/or differential initiation of translation. The mitochondrial ta...

Computational modeling of the enolization in a direct mechanism of racemization of the aspartic acid residue.

The rapid racemization of aspartic acid (Asp) residues in peptides and proteins is due mainly to the succinimide intermediate. However, there should be another mechanism for Asp racemization without intermediacy of the succinimide. The direct H-atom abstraction from the C(alpha)-atom that leads to the enol form of the Asp residue is one possibility. In another study, we have computationally pre...

Acylation Stimulating Protein (ASP) Deficiency and Altered Adipose Tissue in Alternative Complement Pathway Knockout Mice

Acylation stimulating protein (C3adesArg/ASP) is an adipokine that acts on its receptor C5L2 to stimulate triglyceride (TG) synthesis in adipose tissue. The present study investigated ASP levels in mouse models of obesity and leanness and the effect of ASP deficiency in C3 knockout (C3KO) mice on adipose tissue morphology. Plasma ASP levels in wildtype (WT) mice correlated positively with plasm...

D - Aspartate activates a current distinct from ionotropic 1 glutamate receptor currents in Aplysia californica neurons 2

18 D-Aspartate (D-Asp) activates an excitatory current in neurons of Aplysia californica. 19 While D-Asp is presumed to activate a subset of L-glutamate (L-Glu) channels, the 20 identities of putative D-Asp receptors and channels are unclear. Whole cell voltage and 21 current clamp studies using primary cultures of Aplysia buccal S cluster (BSC) neurons 22 were executed to characterize D-Asp-ac...
